One of the Midwest’s premier landscape artists, John Preston continues to find new and appealing scenes in Iowa’s countryside. Originally from the east coast, he came to the Midwest in 1979. His images of Jefferson and Van Buren counties are in corporate and private collections throughout Iowa and the U.S. and have been exhibited as far away as Africa and Cambodia. He works in a variety of media with oils, watercolors and pastels being the favorites. Most of all he enjoys sketching and painting on location and watching the changing weather and light of Iowa's four very distinct seasons.
