Villages Folk School
Youth Scholarship Program

Villages Folk School is excited to offer the Youth Program for it's fourteenth year! Through the Youth Program, we offer scholarships to area students who wish to attend scheduled Villages Folk School classes. Students age 13 to 18, living in or bordering Van Buren and Henry County, may apply for a scholarship by filling out a VFS registration form for the classes they want to take and mail/email to our office. or download the application form. Students will be selected to fill our scheduled classes. Scholarships cover 100% of class fee.

in addition to class scholarships the youth program offers visiting artists for classrooms, field trips, small group classes, cultural experiences, portfolio reviews, use of professional art display for exhibits, annual youth plein air competition, and event demonstrations for area youth.

This program is made possible through funding received from the William M. and Donna J. Hoaglin Foundation, Inc. Area businesses and community members who wish to assist with scholarships may send donations to the Villages Folk School office (PO Box 532 Keosauqua, IA 52565).

Since 2009, artists from Van Buren County have been offering weekend classes in folk and traditional arts and crafts, fine arts and music. Students benefit from experienced artist-instructors and have told us that the classes are both enjoyable and useful. Many have taken these classes to learn a skill that will provide extra income, others for the sheer pleasure of learning something new. While the majority of our youth students are from Southeast Iowa, we have hosted youth students from as far away as Ohio and New Mexico!
