Villages Folk School is excited to offer the Youth Program for it's ninth year! Through the Youth Program, we offer scholarships to area students who wish to attend scheduled Villages Folk School classes. Students age 13 to 18, living in or bordering Van Buren and Henry County, may apply for a scholarship by filling out a VFS registration form for the classes they want to take and mail/email to our office. or download the application form. Students will be selected to fill our scheduled classes. Scholarships cover 100% of class fee.
The implementation of this program is due in part to monies received from the Community Foundation of Van Buren County and from the William M. and Donna J. Hoaglin Foundation. Area businesses or community members who wish to assist with scholarships may send donations to the Villages Folk School office (PO Box 532 Keosauqua, IA 52565).

Since 2010, artists from Van Buren County have been offering weekend classes in folk and traditional arts and crafts, fine arts and music. Students benefit from experienced artist-instructors and have told us that the classes are both enjoyable and useful. Many have taken these classes to learn a skill that will provide extra income, others for the sheer pleasure of learning something new. While the majority of our youth students are from Southeast Iowa, we have hosted youth students from as far away as Ohio and New Mexico!
Join others as they gather in the Villages of Van Buren to learn from the resident artisans in their personal studios. Spend a weekend plein air painting along the Des Moines River, or step back in time as you throw bowls in a Pottery Shop. The inspiring and relaxing atmosphere of scenic Van Buren County, Iowa is, and will continue to be, a haven for creative beings.
