Class begins with a 1 hour demonstration by the instructor. This demo will cover equipment needs for an enjoyable and successful painting experience, plus the basics in how to create an eye catching painting in pastels. The instructor will have written hand outs for students, plus 2 ready to use sheets of paper for pastel painting during the workshop .
Value comp cards will be available for purchase at $10. (to see light to dark values) if needing pastels, a small set is available to use from the instructor for an additional cost of $7. Value comp & pastel rental paid to instructor.
After the demonstration, students will set up along the Des Moines River to practice what was shared during the morning demonstration . Gin will help guide and assist students at this time. Creative time is approx 3 to 3.5 hours.
Students will gather at the close of class to share their paintings and what they learned. During this critique Gin will give tips on evaluating your own works.
Supplies- if students have their own gear and pastels, please bring them. NOTE- For best results in painting, the plein air easel set up should be so the paper/board can be placed straight up & down.
Join others as they gather in the Villages of Van Buren to learn from the resident artisans in their personal studios. Spend a weekend plein air painting along the Des Moines River, or step back in time as you throw bowls in a Pottery Shop.
