Cyanotype is a photographic printing process resulting in a dark blue image. It has been around since the early 1800s and remains an inexpensive way to print photographs. It does not require a dark room or any camera equipment. This printing process is also known for nature prints. Nature prints are created by collecting items such as leaves and flowers, then arranging them on paper to print a negative image.
In this class we will discuss materials, the process and how to create successful prints. We will collect materials to make a nature print and create a photo negative to print.
This special Fall Class is offered during the Van Buren County Scenic Drive Festival. Class is located at Hotel Manning on the Des River in downtown Keosauqua. Start time is 12:30pm, which gives you the morning to shop vendors set up along the river, enjoy the parade and lunch at one of the many food trucks or restaurants in town.
So grab some kettle corn and a refreshing drink and join us for some old school cyanotype printing.
Join others as they gather in the Villages of Van Buren to learn from the resident artisans in their personal studios. Spend a weekend plein air painting along the Des Moines River, or step back in time as you throw bowls in a Pottery Shop. The inspiring and relaxing atmosphere of scenic Van Buren County, Iowa is, and will continue to be, a haven for creative beings.
