Beginning Spoon Carving
The word for spoon comes from a n old word that means ‘chip of wood’. It just makes sense to carve wooden spoons! During this course students will all have the opportunity to learn the techniques to carve beautiful, functional wooden spoons. Every student should leave the course with a spoon that they have carved. Students will learn how to safely use an axe, a knife and a hook knife or gouges. We will learn about tool maintenance and wood selection as well. This course is suitable for students ages 12 and up.
