"Paint The Fair" a plein air competition

Contest rules:
Contest is open to anyone 18 years and older. 
Artist can enter TWO Framed pieces for judging that were created between Thursday at 7:00am and Friday at 4:30pm, but all works can be displayed & available for purchase. 15% of each sale will proceed Villages Folk School, a non-profit organization.
 
Contestants must pre-register online at VillagesFolkSchool.com by Friday July 14, 2023.  $40 entry fee covers both days of the event. 
On-site check-in Thursday/20th from 7-8:00am under the Van Buren County Fairgrounds grandstands. Canvases stamped and goody bags with maps handed out at registration. If you need to register at another time, you must contact Mel at 641-919-7323 and set up a time in advance.
 
NOTE: This year we are offering a plein air workshop instructed by Larry Siwek on Wednesday July 19th. This workshop is only $50 to participants of Paint The Fair. Participants can also use a painting created during the workshop as one of their final 2 submissions. You can easily register for the Wednesday Workshop by selecting the optional workshop on this listing.
 
All pieces must be created between 7am Thursday July 20th and 4:30pm Friday July 21st (with the optional exception of one piece created during the optional workshop on Wednesday).
Thursday is open to all of Van Buren County.  Artists are invited to admire the brick and mortar historic architecture of the villages, scenic landscapes of our state forest and state park, or perhaps a gravel road winding through the fields. Night time painting is also encouraged.
We request that Friday painting takes place on the fairgrounds. Of coarse artists are invited to paint both days on the fairgrounds.
 
Bring your own supplies: Easel, canvas, paper, paints, pastels, frame, eyelets & wire for hanging, etc. 
 
Award Ceremony & Exhibit will be Friday at 5 pm. 
-Artists must bring their ready to hang framed works to the grandstand area by 4:30pm on Friday for judging.
-Your two submissions for judging need to be framed with wire for hanging. 
-Award Ceremony & Exhibit will be under the grandstand 5:15pm Friday evening. All works released at approx. 6:30pm.

2nd Place: $400
3rd Place: $200
Honorable Mentions $50 (2)
Several Hidden Items Cash Prizes $20each
 
List of those Pledging to Purchase in advance will be posted closer to event. Currently seeking a judge for the Friday Exhibit. We have a local radio personality to help with judging.
