LinoBlock Printing

Class Description: This three hour course will cover the basics of linoleum carving. Students will work with a 4x6 mounted lino block. Instruction will cover preparing the block, transferring a design, toning the surface, and choice of tools. *Tips and tricks for producing quality prints will be shared* 

Students will then carve a simple 1 color design. As a class we will go over the mechanics of the proof press and use a Vandercook 219 to print our carvings. A friendly critique will follow.

If time allows we will discuss the multi-color printing process as well as reduction prints.

Note: If you intend to continue carving, you might want to buy a Flexcut palm set and bring with you. These sets range from $50-$175. Feel free to call Mel 641-919-7323 to see which set will work best for you. Otherwise Dick Blick exchangeable sets will be available in class, as well as all other needed materials (linoleum block, transfer paper, acetone, ink, brayer, paper, baron, printing press, etc)
