Rug Weaving Workshop

You are invited to participate in our "Beginning Rug Weaving Workshop".  This two-day course will cover the basics of rug weaving.  Participants will make their own rug to take home and will be guided through the entire process of weaving.  The course begins Saturday morning with weaving nomenclature and end Sunday afternoon as you tie the ends of your completed rug.  The courses are structured so that you will be actively engaged in each part of the weaving process.  Among the techniques you will learn are:  loom warping, loom stringing, preparation of materials for weaving, rug weaving and rug finishing.

Time: 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day

Class Fee: $200. per student

Notes: Four different looms are available in the studio where the instructor and her assistants weave by hand.  They make rugs in various sizes and colors.  Placemats, mug rugs, and table runners are also turned out by their flying fingers.  This large assortment is available at the Iron & Lace shop.  Food is available in Keosauqua and Bonaparte, or bring a bag lunch.
