Growing up in the suburbs of Chicago, Nanette’s only knowledge of gardening was the area strawberry patch and orchard, and a neighbor’s raised garden bed. After having a child, she realized the need for fresh organic produce, and not relying on grocery stores. When she began working in the produce section of a large organic grocery store, she was impressed with the uniqueness of the produce and began exploring the vegetable arena. She moved her family back to Van Buren County where her father was born and raised. An internship on an organic farm in Fairfield, IA taught her what to grow and how to grow it in this area.
Nanette is a certified organic gardener and enjoys canning, freezing and drying her produce.
